Todd and Pat had been in love, even before high school, but when they would be married had yet to be decided. The story begins with him visiting Michigan State, the school of his father, checking things out for his master’s degree program. However, as soon as he gets back to California, he discovers that Patty and her family have disappeared, vanished. After weeks of searching, the only conclusion anyone could come up with was that they were in the witness protection program of the Federal Marshals and they had to flee for their lives.
